Eating to lose weight...what a concept

Okay...you all know I used to (still have) and eating disorder...I would starve myself and lose a ton of weight...it also kept me more manic.

So, now I have discovered, after many people trying their hardest to get me to understand this...you have to eat in order to lose weight...DUH!

:)

I've lost 10 pounds or so, being sick...no appetite, etc. I put on a brand new, too small for me pair of jeans this morning, and they fit perfectly. Its good motivation...however, I've eaten breakfast (protein) and lunch (pasta - not great, but its all I had as i'm so broke). I allow myself one soda a day...and I also allow myself to eat anything I want...

When I am "allowed" to eat anything, I don't want it as much...go figure.

Tricking my brain is indeed a daunting task, but I'm getting there.

Anyway...for those of us who struggle with weight...you CAN lose weight on the meds...and you don't have to starve yourself. I'm so much happier since I learned this.

Funny what mania can make you think...feel...do. Okay, maybe not so funny.

Love and Hugs to all.

yeah..it works..but as anyone w/ an eating disorder knows, being "allowed"is the hardest thing to trick your mind into actually accepting.
i'm so happy its working for you tho!

HI Keli - I also have an eating disorder. I have recently lost almost 90 lbs and I eat 6 times a day. I went off a medication called Depakote that made me gain a ton of weight so losing weight has been coming easier for me then before, but I still have a low-thyroid disorder. So, it's taking me quite a long time just to get the 90 lbs off. I still have about 135 lbs more to go (yes, I'm a BIG girl :)!But, I just try and take it slow everyday. For me it's a daily battle not to overeat. I'm glad that you had a light bulb moment and congratulate you on losing the 10 lbs. You Go Girl!!!

Take Care, Jena
