Keep going hun. It will slowly get better but you will have good and bad days. So relish the good ones and come here for the bad and we will help you through. I am struggling a bit still but not as bad as during week 1 so am holding on. You will too.
Genevieve, one week is wonderful progress. Well done you.
It's OK to cry. There's a lot to grieve for. I think we all feel a sense of loss and emptiness when we realise that this thing that seemed so important, that consumed so many years of our life, was a futile dead-end right from the start. No matter how much we put into the A, no matter how much of ourselves we gave, no matter how much we stole from our families to keep the illusion alive, there was never going to be a happy ending because all A's end. Badly.
The important thing is that it's over. You have a second chance to be the person you want to be. Make the most of it :)
Be proud of yourself that you have over a week now of NC under your belt. Each week that passes will be easier, I promise. Also, crying is understandable as you do have to grieve the ending of this chapter in your life, even though it was one that has caused you much pain. You have only just begun your journey, so take all the time you need to nurse your wounds as long as you don't wallow in thoughts of XAP. In a few more weeks you can start to figure out what kind of person you want to be now, and how you plan on getting there.
I'm 10 weeks out and the difference now from 1 week out is night and day.
Hang in there - Keep NC and you're pain will eventually subside.

One day at a time,
I think I am doing a little better today.
