Found this on the web regarding a class action lawsuit:
Zyprexa and Seroquel tamper with the body's chemical levels and this appears to impact blood sugar levels. 23 patients have reportedly died from Zyprexa induced blood sugar elevation. Diabetes is similar to this where patients have blood sugar regulation problems. Patients with an existing diabetes condition should avoid Zyprexa because it could make their condition worse.
The most common related problems with Zyprexa and Seroquel are:
diabetes mellitus
type 2 diabeties
pancreatitis (acute and chronic pancreatitis)
hyperglycemia
diabetic ketoacidosis ( DKA )
Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome ( NMS )
diabetic coma caused by severe insulin deficiency.
Paxil is on there too but only if you took it while preg - FYI again

Thank you for posting this. I'm new to the board, but
that is why I came to this board to find out about
zyprexa, I'm 42 and had a baby girl in may. But while
I was pg I developed diabetes, They thought It was
just because I was pg. But I still have it and I'm not
pg so your right its the zyprexa. I going to see my gen
doc this week and switch to something else.
thanks again
shelia
I was told that Abilify can do the same thing. I started on it about 3 weeks ago and pdoc told me that I will need blood tests occasionally to check my glucose levels. I will find out more tomorrow when I see pdoc again. I'm not sure how often I have to be tested, but he made it one of his first points about side effects.
Just thought I'd add Abilify to your list for those who may not know about this side effect.
