Has anyone been approved for social security related to your bipolar?

I receive SSD & SSI for my bipolar. It was not easy to get. About 95% of people are turned down the first time. After I was turned down the first time, I went to an Advacacy group to help me get it. If memory serves me right it took about 2 and half years. I was turned down by a Judge so so I appealed and won the third time. It was an emotional rollercoaster...like bp doesn't have you on a ride to begin with.

I encourage you to start now if you haven't started the process because it can take a good while to get it.

Good luck and welcome to our board. Hope to see you post more.

I applied, and was turned down the first time. Last week I got an attorney, and filed an appeal. I was told this will probably take around 18 months. Definitely go ahead and apply if you are considering it.

Good Luck,

In addition to the wonderful support you'll receive on the Bipolar board, you might want to also drop by our Workers' Comp/SSDI board: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhssdi

Good luck
