Hey everyone! My 7 yo dd has the sinus and chest thing that has been making the rounds. It's been a week and a half now of no sleep and her coughing so bad she's been throwing up. Spoke to the ped who said it's viral so nix on the antibiotics. I've been seeing that commercial about the new OTC drug Mucinex. We bought some last night and what a near miracle. She slept through night and rarely coughed. Of course she needed it again this AM but when we gave it to her last night (for kids in liquid and powder form - which we got cause it's like a pixie stick and appeals to her) it kicked in within 20 minutes!!
They have for kids and adults so I think it's worth it to give it a try for all you guys that are suffering.
Just an info and FYI!
TGIF!! Kelli

I couldn't get into the doc until Monday, so this is REAL welcome advice--my lungs and sinuses are so full of crud I had to sleep almost sitting up last night.

A bit pricey, but worth it. It finally allowed me to actually sleep, which I hadn't done for days due to coughing. yep, Mucinex is wonderful stuff!

Donna,
If you haven't gotten the Mucinex yet I would suggest the Mucinex-D. It is made to clear the sinuses. It is over the counter but you have to show id and get it at the pharmacy because of the suefed. My DH took the regular Mucinex when he felt like he was getting pnuemonia agian. This fall he started getting sinus problems and dr said take the Mucinex-D. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I have to take the mucinex-d in the morning as it wires me for sound, however if I take the full dose of OTC psuedophed....lights out, I'm gone to lala land. If I take the regular mucinex at night and the mucinex-d during the day it will evetually clear the crud out and I can sleep and the mucinex-d helps me get going in the morning....almost as good as a caffine pill. LOL.
