One thing I did once, not for an anniversary, just because, was have an "indoor" picnic or beach outing. I got the idea from an article I read somewhere long, long ago in a land far, far away, O.K. it was just 15 or 16 yrs ago and in Alaska, but ya get the picture. Anyway the idea is, to turn the heat up in the house, fix a picnic type meal, fried chicken, potato salad or chips, ya get the picture, put on shorts or a swimsuit (or whatever is appropriate for your "favorite" beach ;=), then spread a blanket on the floor somewhere in the house and have your "picnic" on the blanket. Just a thought, and you should be able to afford the cost of heat for a little while.

Another idea is to have a "back seat" date night. DW and myself have talked about it, but haven't done it yet. Go find some place to park and act like teenagers again (leer). It helps that we have an SUV with room in the back....don't think we could carry out some of the gymnastics we did in the back seat of my old car....I know probably TMI, but made me grin. LOL.

Those are the ideas I have, Good luck and whatever you do, enjoy the night.

Hi Donna,
Here's an idea that I have used in the past -- even with my DS when he was about 11 or 12. (I was a flat broke single mom, had just gotten out of the psych ward and had no money to buy him Christmas presents.) Using my computer and downloaded clip art, I've made really cool coupon books. For DS, I had monthly presents over the next year and video nights with his choice of food, etc. For a DH however, you can get sexy (you can get really fun here) or include stuff like a "no interruption" night in front of the TV for his favorite sporting event.

I work with severely mentally ill adult clients on disability. We create coupon books for our families in group for holidays. They have fun making them and spend no money for them. Their ideas for coupons include washing dishes, sweeping the floor, or whatever they are capable of doing. If they are nervous about their artistic skills, I help with clip art and stuff but I encourage them to use pens and crayons for the drawings. Some are unable to read and write so they tell me what they want and I do them on the computer (my artistic skills are nil). Giver and recipient love them.

Something I do that costs next to nothing is I bake a cake. It's cheap, easy, and appreciated.

I would love nothing more then to get sexy with the coupons...but....let's put it this way, our son sleeps with us and we bought a movie about a month ago...still haven't watched it.

god i feel old...

the best thing he could do for me is get his grampa out of my house...sounds so bad, I know...but I can't take it anymore...

thanks for the idea....I might use something along the lines

That is a good idea.....we can make our favorite dinner (and just share with everyone) and I can make a cake...
