Memory problems

Hi, it's been a long time since I visited this board. I'm having a hard time today. I am bipolar 2. I've been on meds for 13 years. I started complaining to my psych doc in the past couple years about memory problems. I sometimes can't come up with the word I need or forget appointments (even though it's on the calendar)... He took me off the topomax this summer to see if it helps. ( I also take wellbutrin 200mg twice a day, 100mg of lamictal twice a day and geodon 40mg once a day, and was taking lunesta up until a week ago). I have had sleep problems for a long long time but wanted to try and get away from sleep medication. It is very frustrating to stutter over words and forget things I was looking forward to (ie, last nights book club). My kids/dh sometime tease me about this even when I have asked them not to. I don't know if this caused by age, meds, some depression (I'm doing pretty well otherwise)or what... Does anyone else have this problem? Physically I'm in the best shape I've been in in the past 18 years. I'm working out, have lost weight, trying to keep busy. I'm just really down today...
Thanks for listening.
Thanks for listening.

I know exactly what you are talking about. My memory is also terrible. My kids make fun of me too. My pdoc says it's partly due to bipolar, and also the meds don't help any. I guess it's just something I'll have to live with. I sure can't go w/o my meds.

I have only been on Lamictal about 8 mo now (100 mg Lamictal) and Singulair for a few years now, but I have been having trouble pulling the words I want out of memory for some time now too. I don't know what it is either, I am only 39 for crying out loud and this has been going on since about 35.
Good luck,
tk
It was problems with my memory that precipitated my "breakdown" 4 1/2 years ago--I'd get to work & couldn't remember basic steps of my job.
