I'm back...sorta

Sorry I didn't get to post an update.....Monday was a very very long day.
They moved Will's surgery to 7:15am, which was awesome, but we had to be at the hospital at 5:45 am, which meant we had to leave the house at 4:30am !!!

How old is this car? If there is still 12k to payoff I don't think it should be going to crap already....however, I owned a Jeep Liberty that was leaking oil already at 38k miles so wound up trading it in ASAP.
tk
It is a 2002 with just over 114k miles on it...the engine blew at 88k....its not been a very nice car.
God could not be everywhere, so
The rant makes ya feel better for awhile. I have had good luck with Dodge engines, the bodies of the car can be another matter....I have a '94 Dakota that I just finally had to rebuild the engine after 220k or around there. Had to rebuild the tranny at around 176k which the shop screwed up but that is another story....so as part of the rebuild I just did, I changed from an auto to a manual....it cost about the same either way, another rebuild of the auto or go to a manual.
Traded in the Liberty for an '05 Durango and again, the engine has been a champ, but the airbag light keeps coming on and every once in awhile the left blinker causes another warning light to come on and the blinker blinks real fast....Dodge already has changed the whole instrument cluster under warranty which seems to have fixed the problems (sorta)....both of them have showed up once apeice since the change out, but that has been it.
I have sworn off GM's myself....their engineers don't seem to reside in the real world....to change the oil filter ya have to disassemble half the undercarriage? WTF? and your supposed to change this every 3000 mi? That plus several other niggling things that make you go HUH and wonder what planet the engineer that dreamed that up resided on.

you'll love this one.....
my timing chain snapped.

Yeah, the Dodge front wheel drive trannies are crap, especially the minivans....I haven't had any problems with the Dodge rear wheel drive trannies, and trust me, I drive them HARD!!!!! In the Dakota I spin the tires a touch EVERY time I start from a dead stop (heck on tires, but that is who I am and I am paying the bills) BTW, DW is not ANY better so the Durango is getting heck also and nothing dumped yet at 46k....talk to me again about June of next year (if it takes us THAT long to get to 80k), living in TX ya rack up miles QUICK....especially if you live 40 miles from the nearest big town and my mom (who just lost her DH (my dad, DUH) of 50+ yrs so we are visiting every holiday) lives 500 mi away.
I am a "domestic" type guy myself (I know like anything is "domestic" these days, but understand the "silly" reasons we choose one brand over another). I am with ya on the Toyota's being expensive....Honda is not much better and according to Car and Driver magazine, both of their quality is not NEAR what it used to be. JMHO.
My mom drives Crown Vic's and she has had nothing but trouble with the window units in those too, her last one she had to change 3 of the 4 in the first two years she owned it....and yes $500 a whack for those too....her drivers window she had to have changed twice in the first 3 yrs, as well as a light switch went and when they replaced that, they screwed up something under the dash and her airflow/blower never worked right after that and it sounded like half the air was blowing out behind the dash somewhere....new cars and their quality GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!! not to mention some of the barely trained monkeys they have working at the dealer garages (which is where you HAVE to go for warranty work) double GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just saw the top 10 cars for 2007, none of which are in 90% of the populations price range.

>>>>>>>>none of which are in 90% of the populations price range.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Yeah, that is the one downfalls of Car and Driver, but they test drive everything and their editors drive like I do, more on the "sporty" side (read "lead foot"), so if they like a car I probably will. LOL. Car and Driver also has a category for minivans where they pick the minivan their editors like the best....something to check out at least. C/D also does 40k tests of most grocery getters/family haulers.
I'm also with you on the bigger family and finding something they will all fit in....thus the '05 Durango with a third row seat.
