I am new to the board and was just recently diagnosed with bipolar and adhd. I had been going to family practice for so long and nothing was working that I was getting to be suicidal. I changed doctors and decided to go to someone alittle more knowledgable about mental issues. I have to admit I was scared to I might have something serously wrong. But the doctor put me on some medication that seems to be helping. I just wanted to post and let anyone know that might be struggling and still going to family practice. Think about a psyciatrist before anything gets out of hand. I am on the way to being more stabilized.

Hi Lori and Welcome !
Glad you changed doctors and they are finding the right combo for you now.
God could not be everywhere, so
Welcome, and good for you for going to a pdoc! Most GPs I know won't even treat bipolar.
You've made a good start, but statistically you're not out of the woods yet. It takes years to find just the right medicine. It took me about nine.

Lori,
Welcome to the board, I'm glad you found us!
Welcome Lori !!!
yes it is so important to see a pdoc because they are more informed on what meds are used since it is there specialty. GP are exactly that...generally informed on everything but not a specialist in anything.
I am glad you are doing well. Keep posting. I look forward to getting to know you.
