quitting a job due to bipolar

Hi there! i am new here, and was hoping to get some advice. I have recently been diagnosed with bp and post tramatic stress disorder along with anxiety and depression. I have been at my very stressful job for 6 years and recently had a breakdown. I have been off work for 2 months on employer disability benefits, but they are forcing me back to work. My phyc doc does not think i am stable enough to return to my job and i am thinking of quitting in the hopes that i can try and collect unemployment. Unfortunetly my husband had to quit his job about 6 months ago due to my illness and he is currently collecting unemployment. I am terrified to have to quit my job, because i am the one that holds the insurance and benefits ect. We have two children and i made a decision to go back to school, to get out of the current job i am in. My job consist of basically me being a punching bag. I work in a retention center for the phone company and 98% of the time i am getting yelled at and getting called every name in the book. again... my doc does not think i am stable enough to handle this type of work, but i don't know what to do.. if anyone has any advice i would appreciate it so much. thank you

Were you on FMLA? I know you don't get paid while on it but at least you wouldn't loose your job or have to work. I'm sorry you are going through this. I dont' understand why your spouce had to quit while you still worked. I don't work anymore. I did apply for SS but didnt' get it. And I would have to say that I am stable off the meds anyway now so... Good luck!

As someone who ended up on disability thanks in a major way to a phone company job, you have my sincere sympathy--they're enough to drive anyone crazy!
