Natural bipolar treatment?

I had posted a message on the mental health board last week about my husband and his lack of support in our family and how it's driving me to the edge. He doesn't have a job, has mood swings, sleeps in weird patterns. Well since we a big fight last week we've being trying to do things one at a time. First, we want to find out why he can't sleep. Well he does sleep, but never on the same pattern. He can be up for 24 hours or 8 hours and then be tired. He may sleep for 4 hours or 10 hours. It's always different. Once he's awake he can't go back to sleep, but if he's out you can't wake him up. So I was looking up info on sleep disorders and found that all of this is a symptom of bipolar. His mother is bipolar and it can be partially genetic. I know my Husband has been in the hospital before for mental issues when he was younger. I brought the bipolar thing up and he agreed. He said he had been diagnosed as bipolar, but didn't ever bring it up because it has always caused problems. But I think the bipolar may be a big reason for many of our problems. He said the prescription drugs he use to take really messed him up. I'm also learly of prescriptions and the pharmacuitcal companies. I like to use natural herbal remidies. Have any of you ever heard of anything to help treat bipolar that isn't a prescription?

I know it's not what you want to hear, but there are really no good "natural" remedies for BP.
