Has anyone ever used Lamictal and Remeron for their BP?

Just curious - I am on these and am feeling really down - it hasn't been long enough for my therapist to decide it isn't working..I 've only been on the Lamictal for 2 weeks and she says it takes a MINIMUM of 5 weeks to work,

Anyone?

Friday night was the beginning of week five for me. I am up to 100 mg of Lamictal. I am just now beginning to see a very slight change. This coming Friday I go up to 150 mg and stay there for a month. It does take some time for it to get in your system. Just relax as much as you can.

Lamictal is a really good med. The only problem with it is you have to start at a low dose and work it up gradually. It usually takes it getting to 200mgs before you feel the full affects from it but everyone is different. There are people who feel the difference with 50mgs or 100. Be patient, it will kick in. The Remeron I heard can make you sluggish. I never took it for that reason. I suffer more from the depression side of bipolar so I need a pick me up. When I get to hypomania the pdoc just decreases my anti-depressant some for a short period. Some bipolars don't take anti-depressants because it can make them manic. I hope these meds work for you. I am on Lithium and prozac. I was on Lamictal for a couple years and it did wonders for me. I was put on lithium and went off lamictal though. I am hoping I don't have to start all over again with the lamictal process if the lithium isn't enough...ugh, but I think it will be fine.

Hang in there !!

I have been on Lamictal about 6 or 7 mo now....while I couldn't see a change at first, DW said she saw a difference immediatly....like the others said, I started at 50 mg (I think, I think it was 25 morning - 25 night)and I am up to 150 (75 and 75) and missed a dose yesterday morning due to stomach problems and noticed this morning feeling like raging at the problems I was having this morning....long story....it sucked.

My DH is on Lamictal. We noticed that the lower dosages seemed to work right away on the hypomanic side of things; whereas it took getting over 100mg to see a difference in the depressive side. It's the only medicine he's taking right now.

I am on Remeron (60mg at night). It's a fast-acting anti-depressant that can also help with insomnia. For me it seems to quit working after about a month. My doctor then doubled the dosage, now it seems to be quitting once again.

I've noticed a over all lack of energy, and I seem to get really tired around 8:30pm I don't know if it's a side effect of the medicines I take (also on Lithium, Wellbutrin, & Risperdal) or if it's because I'm in a depressive phase.

That's probably not helpful. *shrug*
