Hi, my name is Vanessa. I just found out that i have bipolar. Im almost 28. I'm guessing I've had it for awhile. After being "diagnosed", my life(and my problems) made more sense. Just made the appt for "meds". Been going to a therapist for "talk-therapy".....

And I just found out that the phsychiatrist she wants me to see, my insurance doesn't cover right away. The patient(me) is responsible for the first $1500, then they will pay 50% after that...sooooooooo I made an appt with my PHCP, at least to get started on something, and I know my insurance covers her.

This thing almost ended my almost 9yr marriage. My 3 kids, are hurting because of it...they don't like to see me this way.. and DH, while he's trying to be supportive, just doesn't know how yet...we are both trying to figure this whole thing out...even though i've been living with it for a while now....just not knowing.....

I'm glad I found this site...I hope I can find a lot of support

Welcome!!!

I am glad you are going to go to your PCHP to get started on something. That sucks you have to pay 1500 before the insurance will kick in with a pdoc. Will your insurance pay for counseling at all? That would help too to be able to talk with a proffesional to help you with coping skills. Would your husband be open to reading up on bipolar? That is good he is trying to be supportive. I wish you all the best. This illness is a battle, some times more than other times but you are on your road to treatment and that will make a difference. Post here whenever you want or need to.

Hugs,

Tina

I can relate to what you're going through. I have 3 kids also, one of which is also bipolar. We were both diagnosed at approximately the same time.
