Hello!
I was wondering if anyone here takes cogentin for restlessness caused by meds they are on (or any other reason). I had my Abilify decreased because of restlessness but had to increase it again because I was getting hypomanic/mixed after decreasing the dose. Pdoc suggested that we may need to start cogentin if the restlessness gets bad again. I wanted to keep the lower dose of Abilify and add Topamax back in to see if that would help my mood and not make me restless, but pdoc upped the Abilify back to what it was (10mg) and also added the Topamax back (not really sure why). So, hopefully the Abilify will kick in soon and I will get rid of the irritability and lack of concentration soon. I was getting to the point that I could not keep on task at work (and I was doing great with that before we cut the Abilify).
Anyway, I was wondering if the cogentin comes with any side effects of its own I should know about, in your experience.
Thanks!!
Peg

I was dxed bp back in 1993, before they had a lot of the new medicines, and at first I took Li along with some powerful antipsychotics like Thorazine and Navane. When I was on the two latter drugs, I took Cogentin to deal with the side effects (restless leg syndrome and tardive diskinesia). I don't remember it having any side effects of its own, but the side effects of Thorazine and Navane are so dramatic that any it might have had I ignored.
