How about a roll call to introduce ourselves, since we seem to have a number of newbies?

Traci here in Northern VA. Not much new to report.

DD is still in the hospital, they're now saying another week, but the insurance company may say differently so we'll see what happens with that. I'm going down to see her tonight and hopefully get some answers. She said yesterday that if the ins. co. boots her out of there, the pdoc wants to send her to another hospital that's like 3 1/2 hours away from here:(

I'm still out of work because of my meds situation and going nuts. I found one doctor in the entire area who can do this but he wants two appointments and can't see me until the 3rd of April.

My mother is driving me nuts pounding me with questions about DD. She still has a hard time accepting mental illness. She can't comprehend that there's no 'tests" to diagnose it therefore it must all be in our & the pdocs and tdocs heads.

Xh still hasn't gone to see her. He told his oldest DD (my step-daughter) that DD was only looking for attention! I can't say what I'd really like to call him here on this board but just say he's a class a jerk.

I am Beth, I live near Toronto

I am 34 years old and recently married to a wonderful man. I am looking for work currently- with a little luck, I'll get work as a music teacher. My major instruments are flute and voice, and I have degrees in music history and conducting.

MC or Brenda, Panhandle of Texas
I was DX'd BPII about a month ago. Mostly depressed with occasional hypomania.
I have DH and DS (16) who are both EOBP or early onset bipolar.
I also have DD (8) who is epileptic and developmentally delayed.
I'm a SAHM due to injury and inability to hold a job.
I do a lot of research and reading about medical conditions and meds, and learn something new every day.

My name is Mary and live in NM. I'm married with a 4 year old daughterj and a son due in June. Before I was a mom I was a computer programmer/sys admin, but my avocation is art. I paint, draw, and do some sculpture. Lately I'm more into fiber arts though because none of it is toxic, and it's easier to put done the knitting when a child needs attention than the oil paints.

I'm Marci, 53 and the "old lady" of the board and today feel like Methuselah's great-grandmother.

I live in Kansas City, MO with my 20 yo DD who's a fulltime college student and my adorable (totally unbiased opinion here) 8 month old grandson.

nickname: Princess Mitzi
real name: Tara
Location: Houston, TX

I have 2 DS -17 & 12- I am 34 years old and recently diagnosed with BP not sure what level yet with a mood disorder as well as OCD. I have been to the PDOC 4 times and Therapist 1 and have another appt on Sat. I am currently in a relationship for 1 year 3 months. I am an only child raised by a single mother. Have always felt some sort of depression and finally got on meds in 2000- took Prozac for 5 years and then after sleeping for 5 years and gaining 40lbs I decided to stop. Lasted 1 year then had an episode that sent me to admit myself into a hospital.

I am glad that I finally have a real diagnosis and can finally stop blaming myself for all my failed relationships. I can actually find the tools I need to lead a "normal" life...whatever my normal may be!

Wish everyone the best in stabilizing their minds to live a better life.

It was just revealed to me by my DH that he may be bi-polar, was diagnosed years before he met me. Have done ALOTTT of research, since my mom was also bi-polar I should have seen the signs before.
I hope he will understand that I am his support and not the enemy.
Between us there are 7 kids, 5 dogs, 2 cats and 35 fish. :) that would drive anyone over the edge. Ill be lurking around the board for a long time...

I'm Steph. I live about 50 miles south of Chicago. I am a special education teacher and have 4 girls; 5, 5, 8 and 10, a puppy named George and a DH named Ed.

I am anxiously awaiting my first Pdoc appt. on May 1st. Our marriage counselor thinks I may have BP ontop of my already diagnosed anxiety and depression issues.

I ALWAYS hold everything in so being here will hopefully give me a place to voice my worries and concerns. My DH tends to avoid issues of mental health so I don't feel I can really talk to him about it. In my circle of friend and co-workers I am the "strong, patient, level headed one". HA! If they only knew.... : )

I am really in need of some encouragement(firm encouragement) to see this possible diagnosis through. It is nice to be around people who understand how it feels when your thoughts are running faster than your mind can process them and how overwhelming just sweeping the floor can feel at times.
