I posted this on the depression board and also the anxiety board....thought maybe someone here might be able to help me also...
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone here has ever been on Effexor XR?

A couple of years ago I was on Effexor XR and I didn't have any trouble while I was on it. However I did have quite a bit of difficulty going off it--withdrawal symptoms.
I hear that this medicine works for a lot of people though.
Definitely ask your doctor about it. As with any medicine you weigh the difficulty of the side effects to the benefits of the medicine and make the best educated choice you can.
I took it and I tell you that most of the things you wrote can be true. At they were for me. Going up on that med really sucked. It made me more irritable and more irrational at the time. Part of that was that I needed a mood stabilizer too, and didn't know it. Once that glitch was taken care of and I was at my regular dose of Effexor XR it did wonders for me. I felt the best (most normal) I had in years. However, I got pregnant just a couple of months into that and had to come off all the meds. That's when the brain tremors, dizziness, nausea, ect. ect. ect. came on. Withdrawing from Effexor XR really really sucked. I even ended up at the ER over the whole thing. So, it's a trade off. If it works for you it's wonderful and the side effects are temporary and you deal with the bad stuff along the way.

Np personal experience with Effexor, but you need to understand that meds affect everybody differently--I can take something and have no problems where it will cause all kinds of side effects for the next person.
Hi everyone :)
Sorry for not getting back here sooner.
