Disgust at life in general
| Sun, 04-22-2007 - 8:23pm |
Hello everyone, this is the first time I'm posting on this board. I have had recurring problems with manic depression and suicide ideation since I was 16. In January I had a severe breakdown and was put on citalopram and ordered to excersise every day, but having epididymitis helped trigger a severe descent in my general mood. I currently feel as though continuing to live is a day by day struggle. My thoughts always go in a negative pattern, it seems that everything reminds me of my problems with health and employment. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is necessary to contact the psychiatrist concerning this change. He extracted a promise from me not to kill myself without contacting him or going to A&E first.
Thank you.

My personal opinion is that these doctors get paid enough money to have to do the "detective" work when it comes to deciding which symptoms are important and which aren't. If yours aren't under control, then I would tell him anything and everything that is effecting your daily life, whether it be positive or negative. Let him take that information, pick through it, and decide which things are actual bipolor symptoms, which are symptoms of something else, and which are just normal life issues. The worst thing that could happen is if you didn't tell him enough. The best thing that could happen is that you tell him enough to improve whatever treatment plan he currently has you on. Don't ever think, however, that things going on in your life aren't important enough to make use of his professional opinion.
Don't give up, okay? It might not get better overnight, but with a little bit of work here and there, you'll find a solution eventually.
(((hugs))),
Dawn
Glad you found us, I hope you find the board to be the wonderful place of support that I have.
Definitely let your pdoc know what's going on, while they can sometimes read between the lines, most are not mind readers.
Thank you Dawn and Kcisis. Yes it's really frustrating.
My thoughts keep going round and round locked in a negative pattern. I suppose all this does is make bad circumstances worse.
I'll post again later xx
When there is a change in your moods it could be a danger sign or it could be nothing.
It's best to check.
Just remember life is not a struggle but a great gift.
You have to think positive.
Think about anything you like even if it's something stupid,
like balloons and candy.
Just keep your head up, don't freak out.
Good luck.
