NOT Bipolar after all!

Just wanted to let you all know, after 3 docs, my DH went to a psychiatrist that said his problem wasn't bipolar, but depression mixed with such severe ADD that his brain was basically fried and his body not making any norepinephrine. This combination is commonly seen by many docs as bipolar, but his lack of truly manic episodes helped this doc dig deeper - as well as his blood tests showing his seratonin to be in the normal range! He will have a lot of therapy and while the drugs will help him get to be somewhat normal in the next few weeks, it will take up to 2 years for the brain to repair the 30+ years of damage.

With doing so much research I feel for many of you dealing with bipolar daily! I'm so glad that he will be able to be treated with something that should work long term. And I wish you all the best luck. I hope everyone gets a second opinion they have symptoms that dont exactly fit bipolar (his brain fills in gaps in his memory, thats a big one).

Thanks for the chats ;) Its been a stressfull few weeks!!!

many hugzzz to you. I am very happy that everything seems to have worked out. My cousins daughter actually has the condition that you were talking about. she has to be on medication for the rest of her life though because of the lack of something or the other in her brain. Sorry so vague, dont talk to the family very often.
this coming from a woman who lost her mom in december who was bi polar, found out hubby was cheating and he was diagnosed with ADD, bi-polar, panic and anxiety and major depression and a teenager who is bi polar. whew...checking.. yup I got it all right. :)
Take care of you and the baby and hope it all works out for you.
