I used to come to this board a LOT when I was struggling with recovery. I finally was able to get back into the work force after a long time out of it. My reentry was in the new field of peer support in mental health. If you are unfamiliar with it, peer support takes those of us in recovery and trains us to work with other folks dealing with mental illnesses. We demonstrate that recovery is possible and, using our experiences, encourage others along the road to recovery.
Are there any folks in here who are working in this field? I sure would love to share some ideas. Even if you are not working in the field, have you ever dealt with peer support specialists? Or do you just have helpful ideas?
I desperately need some support as I take over and provide structure to folks who have been allowed too much leeway.

I am not too familiar with peer support but I do understand it is people with disabilities helping others with disabilities. That is great you are involved with doing this. I understand how stressful this can probably be at times.
I think setting boundaries would be the first part of dealing with others. Some people may think because you also have disbilities you should understand their lack of trying harder and may try

I was VERY lucky that my first in-person support group was a peer one that was facilitated by someone specially trained to do so--it made a big difference.
