I had a manic episode earlier this week (but hey, I ended up with a really clear apartment because I disinfected everything...including the walls lol) and when I finally settled down enough to get help, my doc gave me Lorazapam.
Only time I've taken this stuff before, it was only once. I've been taking it three times a day since...I dunno, 2 or 3 days I think anyway. My mom keeps making fun of me, she say I look like a stoner. I have to admit, my pupils look like huge black saucers and I'm having to rewrite every other word in here because even though I'm drugged I still hate misspelled words!
Anyway, I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has had this experience. I hope they don't expect me to stay on this med. I can't exactly fuction at work like this. I can't even walk straight without bopping into the walls.

P.S. Last night I had some seriously wierd hallucinations. Are those a product of the meds or the manic episode?

Lorazepam can certainly get you stoned. It has me. It really has to be handled with care. It is addictive. And btw, three doses a day is QUITE a bit!
Even so, I don't think it has ever given me a hallucination. I have had plenty of hallucinations while manic, however. So, that was probably your problem there.

It wasn't an overly upsetting hallucination, if that's what it was. I was in my mom's spare bedroom 'cause she didn't trust me in my apartment when she realized how stoned out of my gourd I was on this med.
Anyway, the room started filling up with smoke, but it didn't freak me out like I thought it should. And there were these two lights up in the corner, near the ceiling, and they were flying around like little bugs or something. I tried to grab them but every time I reached out to them my hand split into three or four other hands and I got a bit stressed out by that.
I took my blanket and my pillow and decided to sleep on the couch in the livingroom after that. I still had a few hallucinations out there, but they were pretty tame. The spinning parts of the ceiling fan kept bending toward me and they weren't spinning in time with their shadow, and also the hall closet door was bulging.
Regardless, it was an odd night.
I have Lorazepam to take as needed. I try not to take it much because I don't want to become addicted to it. How many mg are you taking? I only take 5 mg and can take it up to twice per day. I find that it works for about 7 or 8 hours. Three times may be pushing you over the edge.
Hi August,
I can't say I've ever had any of the symptoms you describe, but then again I've only taken Lorazepam a few times in the past which my pdoc rx'd on a prn basis. And with the Klonpin I have found that I don't need the Lorazapam.
