Okay I am completely new to this. I'm not used to watching moods... other than when I feel panicky or overly depressed. I posted earlier in the week about just being dx'd bp and changing meds to seroquel. I talked to my doctor and said to play with the dose if I needed to. So, instead of taking my daily dose which made me want to pass out (very hard to do with 2 boys) I just tried taking all 200mg at bedtime. Well, I started that 2 nights ago. Now tonight I took the 200mg a few hours ago and I'm still not ready to go to sleep. I feel wired! So I took another one. He said I could go up to 300mg as long as I wasn't have any strange side effects. I am having a few s/e..... the most bothersome right now is what I think may be Restless Leg syndrome(I've never had it before, but it feels like they explain in the commercial) it's the strangest feeling EVER! They tingle and feel crawly, like almost asleep, and I have to get up and move, or they'll start to hurt even. The pamphlet with the seroquel didn't say anything about this s/e... so I was wondering if anybody else had this feeling.
Right now I feel like my mind is flooded with everything at once. I may not even make any sense, my fingers get carried away with my typing, and my fingers and mind don't work in sync... so if I don't make sense, sorry. But I'm so new to this, I was used to it, but then the meds made me reaaaaaallllllyyyyyy sleeeeeeeeepy and now it's BOOM, not sleepy. I think I could say a gazillion things in one breath.
Sorry to ramble on, I'm just not sure what to think about this, I assumed to be sleeping by now. Well thanks for listening. Hope you are all having a good day.

LOL Sorry don't mean to laugh but I thought I had lost my mind last week as I had the SAME problems but now I'm doing okay . My PD also said I can go up to 300mgs I just got comffy with 100mgs I take it dont feel all messed up but when I go to bed I SLEEP!!!!! YEA :))) I'm so happy to sleep :) Its one of my worst things not sleeping for days and days & days !
Any ways I hope your sleeping right now I found this site help full on the side effects http://www.medicinenet.com/quetiapine/article.htm
That has info the paper did not have. So I hope it helps & the side effects can start over each time you go up in mgs. Lots of hugs & I hope you got some sleep!
You are suppost to take small doses and gradually move up.

My home PDR lists tremors & uncontrollable movements as more common side effects, along with itching & leg cramps as rare side effects, so what you're feeling is most probably due to the med.
(((((((((((((Katrina))))))))))))) The only thing I know about seroquel is that the first time I was on it, the pdoc set me on a high dosage - like 600 mgs so I would sleep. It was a steady titrate up. He didn't start me out on that dose but that's what he finished me off at. It just plain wasn't working and in fact, my lack of sleep was only getting worse. So he ended up taking me off of it and prescribing another med. Although now I can't even remember what it was he put me on. I went through the whole list of meds, or so it seemed to me at the time. He put me on Lamictal once and I developed a small rash on my back so he took me off of it immediately. It turned out 3 years later that it wasn't the rash that is accompanied by the Lamictal and the pdoc at the hospital I was in put me back on it and the pdoc I now have has kept me on it and a few other meds and I've been stable ever since.
I'm not saying that the seroquel won't work for you, the dosage may just be too high for you right now. As has already been pointed out, these symptoms you are reporting are rare side effects, but side effects nonetheless. And your pdoc needs to know it NOW. I know it's the weekend and he probably doesn't have office hours, but if there's an after hours number you can call, I'd call it. When I get manic, I get symptoms of RLS as well and it's definitely a pain to deal with. I can't stand it. So perhaps a smaller dosage would work for you. I know my new pdoc started me at 25 mgs of seroquel just to see what would happen when I was in the throws of a depressive cycle and 25 mgs knocked me out. So it has a lot to do with the mood you are in as well. She told me that it recently has been approved by the FDA as a bipolar med both for mania and depression. Where before it was just for one or the other, I can't remember which though.
I hope you have been able to get some sleep by the time you read this. Keep posting and venting. Don't worry if it may not make sense to you or anyone else. We've all most likely been where you are at at one point or another so we understand.
Hugs,
Traci
uh-oh... forgot to take off my hat... but I have to post while I remember what I'm going to say.
I am not seeing a pdoc.... becuase my insurance will
Hi Katrina,
Hope you are feeling better today!
I just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one who has the RLS side effects from the Seroquel. I honestly thought I was the only one who had that, because I've brought it up to my doctor and he said he's never heard of that side effect, and I've researched it online and haven't read anything about it. But I get it everytime I take the Seroquel, so I know that's what's causing it. It must be just one of those really rare side effects. But you are not alone! I've been taking Seroquel on and off for 5 years and have experienced it since then.
Take care!
Angie
Thanks Angie! Today is ok..... feeling tired, but over all well! How are you?
I haven't mentioned the RLS to my dr yet, but I'm going to. I figured I was one of those strange few that experience's strange things not listed anywhere in the books..... thank goodness I'm not alone. I hate that feeling, it literally drives me crazy. Thanks so much for sharing that you've had it too, makes me feel less crazy! I hope today is a good day! Take care and HUGS!
