ADD and Bipolar

Hi everyone,
Last week, I was discharged from the hospital. I spent 8 days inpatient to get my meds adjusted because I was manic, wasn't seeing a psychiatrist, and it was a big mess. I've got follow up appointments with both a psychiatrist and a therapist, one late this month and early next month. Here is my question.
When I was in the hospital, I questioned my doctor (who will be my outpatient doctor) about starting medication for ADD. I was diagnosed with ADD several years ago, but haven't really been on medication for it. I'm finding my life to be in chaos because of it, but my doctor said that you have to be really careful with ADD medications when you have bipolar, because it can mess with your bipolar.
My question is: are there any of you out there who have both bipolar and ADD, and are being treated successfully for both? What medications are you taking? My next appt. with my pdoc is June 4th and I'm going to bring it up to him again. I feel like we've finally gotten the bipolar under control, but the ADD is still way out of control.

Thanks,

Angie

Hi, my DH is being treated for both. He is on ritalin, and an AD, and a mood stabilizer, so lots of pills.

Good luck!
