When will the sleeplessness end????

I've been on Effexxor (225mg/day) since May 9th. (I'd already been taking 150mg/day for hot flashes, my psychiatrist just added the additional 75mg.)

OMG when will the sleeplessness end?!? I'm SO frustrated. I've been sick recently - and recovery took twice as long b/c I couldn't rest via sleep. I've tried Benadryl, I've tried Tylenol PM...even Nyquil (when I was sick) didn't work a darn! I didn't have this side effect w/Effexxor until we 'upped' the dosage.

Has anybody out there had this problem w/antidepressants? When will it end (or will it?)I'm nearly losing my mind from exhaustion.

Thanks,
Jeanie

Since it seems to be a result of the increased dosage, it may take a couple of weeks to even a month before your body adjusts to the new dosage.

I LOVE Ambien (regular version) usually 5 mg will knock me out pretty quickly and allows me to get right back to sleep after my many late night bathroom

Any idea on the effectivess between Zanax and Ambian?

They're in totally different drug classes.

Xanax is primarily rx'd for anxiety or panic attacks, although sometimes for other things like PMS and alcohol withdrawal.

Yeah, like mentioned before, I would talk with my doctor about toughing it out to see if you adjust to the higher mg and the possibility of a sleep aid in the meantime.

Seroquel is not a favorite of mine unless I'm really, really, really hypomanic - otherwise, I just don't want to deal with the drugged feeling when I wake up, ha. I actually prefer Lunesta over Ambien. I've never had a problem falling asleep with Lunesta, though I've been able to stay up for hours with Ambien. The only negative thing about Lunesta is the bitter taste it leaves in the back of your throat, but I've come to accept that as a sign that it's getting ready to really work! Haha :)
