I've been off of my meds for four weeks total now. My liver hypototocity was definitely that, not another liver problem. We are assuming it was either the mood stabilizer itself or a combination of the particular meds I was on. I won't say which meds I was on in particular for the sake of some people's anxieties about meds. This is very unusual to have happen, especially when they are meds that I have been using in combination for over two years and individually from 2 to 5 years. My psychiatrist, who is in her 60's, has only had one other patient in all of her years of practice have this problem.

I did go and buy the really good Omega-3 fish oil when I was taken off my meds. It seems to have made a really big difference for me, although I know this isn't true for everyone. My biggest problem in the last few weeks has been some depression on and off. Of course, I was also going through a breast biopsy and a uterus problem at the same time. The biopsy was NO CANCER. YEAH! It turned out to be a piece of tissue that had been injured at some time and developed scar tissue that made it look like cancer. (I know exactly when the injury happened and who was responsible. Karma will come back to bite my xh for his abuse of me.)

Anyway, we decided to go back to an anti-depressant that I have used in the past with great success. I'll go back in six weeks to talk about trying a different mood stabilizer in the same family as the old one.

Steph,

Good luck with the med change--that's one thing that really strikes fear in me, especially now that I seem to have found a combo that works for me with minimal side effects (and some I thought I had may actually be caused by something else).

I know liver toxicity is pretty rare but just had a scare about that myself--for now the enzymes are slightly elevated, enough to watch and hope that getting on a diabetes med and getting serious about my diet & testing will make a difference.

TY on the siggie. I love your's, too- so appropriate! I love those ladies over at the siggie board!!! :)

I am aware of the problems with only being on an AD. TY for the reminder, though! Until I was finally properly dx'ed at age 38, that is what I would do. I'd be on an AD until I started going up. Then, it was off of it. Then, on again when things went bad. Years and years of this. I started Prozac the year it came on the market. I'd already been doing this for a while then. That's a lot of years of that.

My doc did tell me to discontinue it and get in to see her if I have that happen which I will do. I do NOT want to go there!!
