Dh's sister is BP...ignores dr or pdoc care. Wants us to "save" her & family from the fall out. Her DH lost job due to time lost. My DH & I work full time jobs and are payieng their mortgage. I am upset I KNOW its a disease but I am angry. We go to work and budget our lives to bail them out. All of our "discretionary" money and our savings goes to them. They make no behavioral changes to improve their lives yet we who work assume the cost of day care and pool clubs because they can't handle the cost.
I dunno, maybe my perspective is skewed...we couldn' afford these things when our children were young. They survived and learned from financial restrictions..Maybe I am crazy but it seems like accountability is missing....

Speaking as a BP person, you have my sympathy. I know firsthand what a holy terror a bp person can be when they are untreated (I was once for reasons beyond my control). I believe it is the responsibility of all mentally ill to accept treatment responsibly. I would never choose to be involved with another mentally ill person who refused treatment.
I do know it can be very hard to get some people into treatment. I honestly don't know what to tell you. But I offer you {{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}.

It just keeps getting worse...SIL was hospitalized this morning for seizures. DH met them at the hospital. She has been prescribed Lexapro, Seroqual & Antabuse. We found out last week she has been supplementing with Xanax & marijuana. At the hospital this morning they were going to run a tox screen and she fessed to doing cocaine as well. Beautiful summer morning and four kids getting ready for school get to watch Mom have a seizure. They must have been terrified and its all about her....
I KNOW its a disease but she is killing everyone around her. If she is talking (and it is non-stop) she lying. I am so over it all
