Anyone here have Bipolar NOS (Not Otherwise Stated)? I'm talking to my pdoc about it next week. I've had one hypomanic episode and feel I might be having another... Thanks for the help.
I have heard of NOS because the pdoc doesn't have enough information from you yet to see whether you are bipolar I, II, or III. He/ she probably wants to see if you have more depressive symptoms or mania symptoms, also to see if you have a lot of cycling or mixed episodes. There is a lot of dx's to assign for those with bipolar disorder. I am sure you will find someone here that can relate to what you are going through. We all share alot of the same symptoms. I look forward to getting to know you.
Anybody care to explain each one to me? My GP dx'd me, and I love him and trust his word.... but he didn't tell me of the types, I'm just curious to know the differences. Thanks!
I've never heard of BP NOS, just type I, II, and III. What is NOS? I'm curious and would love a description!

As I understand them:
Type I - Extreme highs and extreme lows
Type II - Mild to moderate highs and extreme lows
Type III - Bipolar symptoms brought on by antidepressants or other medications.
Cyclothymia - Mild highs and mild lows
NOS - Not otherwise specified. Bipolar that doesn't follow the classic pattern or the doctor needs more time to pin down a specific type.
