I got a box of handmedown baby clothes while still pregnant and in there was a tiny pink string bikini practically for a newborn. I had a good chuckle and went out and bought my baby a two piece where the top is a little t-shirt. I figure the more coverage, the less possibility of sunburn. Besides I'm sure we'll have enough wardrobe conversations when she turns 14, and I wouldn't be super thrilled with tiny bathing suits while my girl is a minor. There are just too many sick people out there and I prefer to be safe than sorry. There are tons of adorable tankinis and one piece suits out there. Just my take :)
Having a boy I don't know that I'm qualified to answer this. ;) However, I think it is inappropriate. I just don't get it! A string binkini? Can you imagine how much of the diaper would show? It just seems too much to me. A cute two piece tankini would be fine but I think this just goes too far.
We are always a little disgusted when we see baby bikinis. I think the whole "dressing babies like adults" trend often goes too far and take a lot of the fun out of dressing a baby.
No way. My mom bought Piper a bikini and John freaked out. It was more of a half top looking 2 piece, and it really did look kinda creepy on her. I'm really not a huge prude, and she has some adorable little dresses , but there was just something about my baby posing around the house in a bikini that just didn't feel right to this mama
She looks fantastic in her Dora one piece and it even has spf 50 built right in.
I have a friend (more like good acquaintance) who bought her 11 year old a bikini. The friend can't understand why I'm shocked and appalled. this friend also accused her husband of "looking inappropriately" at their daughter, but is willing to traipse the daughter in the bikini around in front of her boy toy. *shakes head*

although, for a good laugh I might have to squeeze Ailey in it just b/c of her fabulous thighs and tummy;)
then I will laugh and promptly put it back on the top shelf of the closet:)
