Hello all!
I am a newbie here who has just been diagnosed with Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder. A few weeks back, I did something stupid...I was in a manic state and decided to try an commit suicide. Luckily, I was "saved" by my husband because I took a large dose of pills and he happened to come home at the right time. I was Baker acted and put in the hospital as well because I passed out and caused myself to get a concussion and a few bruised ribs. I was put on Seroquel an Lamictal, but I still have thoughts of suicide because I am in a depressive stage right now.
I am looking for some place to get my feelings out and to learn coping skills. I hope this will help.
How do others cope? There are no support groups in this area. I do have support through my family, but sometimes I think they don't want to realize my problem and ignore it. Same with my husband. It seems so hard to explain to them how you feel when things go haywire and believe it's "all in my head" and I cause my own problems. I don't know how to explain to them that when these episodes occur, it's like you are outside your body looking in and know matter how you try to change that, it happens anyway.
Hopefully through this message board, I will learn more and be able to work harder to keep this under control.
Thank you for listening!

Thank you for the websites! I already contacted NAMI before and all the support groups are too far away, but between the lady I spoke with and I we are hoping to get a chapter started in my area. The other website had a lot of great information too. I really appreciate the support!
Thanks Again,

Thanks for the advice!
I have been doing my best with all the things you explained....except the caffeine part! LOL. I won't know for a few more weeks if the meds are right for me, but I will definitely be proactive in getting what is right. I have dealt with this without even realizing I could be "cured" for so long, it is very hard right now feeling almost normal!
I appreciate all your support!
