Have any of you ever been on or heard of symbyax? I've been on a combo of seroquel 400 topamax 200 and wellbutrin 300 for awhile now and doing pretty good but I'm going back to school in a month and I'm just way way way too sedated to function- so my doctor is switching me from seroquel to this thing symbyax. It's a zyprexa/prozac combo.
I'm kind of iffy about it. First of all zyprexa = major weight gain, right? Secondly won't the proxac just make me go manic?
Does anyone have any experience with this drug?

Hi there Meg! Sorry, do not have experience with Zyprexa and Prozac in the same pill, but have taken the two together in separate pills before. It's OK, but can make you gain weight and really crave sweets.
Have you tried Geodon? That is the antipsychotic I took for four years and did the best on. No weight gain with it. I suggest you ask your pdoc if that would be an option for you.

P.S. Good luck with school. I think it is fantastic that you are going:)! Email me if you have my email still, or do it through my profile. Would love to hear all the wonderful news.
Symbyax worked well for my mood. I took Zyprexa with a couple different ADs. Then took Prazac with it which worked the best. I think I only took a month or two
I have tried geodon and abilify (the non-weight gain antipsychotics) unfortunately neither seems to work for me! I was so sedated on geodon that I was going to work in the morning literally drooling at the front desk. I was working at an athletic club. People were coming in so upbeat and ready to go. One day I fell asleep and my boss had to send me home, it was then that I had to tell her I was bipolar. As for the abilify, it just made me totally sick.
Anyway only two days so far of this symybax but just starting this afternoon I am starting to cheer up! I hope it just gets up to a normal level and doesn't go way up above and beyond or start cycling like crazy, you know? I'm still taking 100 mg of seroquel with it, but tomorrow will be my last night of the seroquel and then it will be interesting to see how it really is working.
And get this, my appetite has actually decreased! And I'm craving healthier foods! It was such a fight on the seroquel all the time- I was up to 600 mg. Maybe not all people gain weight on zyprexa? I hope this continues *knock on wood*
