Trileptal

I've been on here before and asked some questions about my meds before, but I'm really having trouble. I'm on Trileptal and have been for about 3 years now. It's really helped my mood, but it's really interacting with my other meds. I was taking the trileptal 300s, twice a day, and it was working fine with my birth control. I know that one of the side effects is decreased effectiveness in birth control, but I take it for my cramps, I get terrible periods. So I was taking Yasmin for about 6 months with the 600mg of trileptal a day and it was fine, but I went to my psych. and he upped my dose to one in the morning and 2 at night, so 900 mg. I went on vacation to Hawaii right after that, and I was greeted with my period, I still had a week until my placebos. So I thought it might have been the time zone change, taking things at different times than usual, but it wasn't. I had a 2 week period 2 months in a row, and I decided to stop my Yasmin and see how that went, I had perscription strength aleve to help. That helped once but not more than that. My psych said to try the birth control shot because it works different. My regular doctor won't do that because average weight gain is 15lbs in the 1st year. He said we'd try seasonale and that way if I was having long periods it would be every 3 months instead or 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. Well I had my period since starting it for 2 weeks, I stopped bleeding for about 4 or 5 days and now I'm bleeding again, I'm not sure if it's spotting or what, but I'm sick of it. I talked to him and he said we'd wait and see how the first couple months go. I almost want to ask about switching meds but what I'm on now is helping,I don't want my mood to go nuts on me again! I work in a pharmacy, so I am lucky enough to have pharmacists at my disposal for questions like this, but I'm trying to get as much info as I can. One of the pharmacists suggested the NuvaRing, that it might work different since it's transermal and not oral. I don't know. I just wish there was a way to feel good mentally and not be in pain physically, because really long periods don't help my mood, and neither do normal length painful ones. I guess I'm just looking for some suggestions, any thoughts would help. Thanks
