My PDoc's office has a policy that if you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time, it's the same as a "No Show". The doctor then has the option of dropping you as a patient.

I couldn't get a babysitter. Well, truth to tell, I waited until the last minute. I'm already depressed. Might as well go off my meds as they don't seem to be helping anyway. And my doctor probably doesn't want me any more either, as this is the third time I've missed my appointment.

:-(

One of the things about depression is we can procrastinate. We get so tired or in another world and we don't want to do what we have to and then there is so many other things going on. It is part of the illness.

Don't quit your meds. Let your pdoc know they aren't helping. It is his job to find the right meds for you but he can't do that if he doesn't know they are not working. Tell him you are having a hard time and you are sorry for another missed appointment.

Don't give up. Even though it is their policy to be able to drop someone it is their say that is the final answer. If you let him know you want to continue treatment and need his help I don't think he will drop you unless you continue to miss appointments over and over again in the future without giving more than 24 hours notice. It also depends on how many missed appointments in a time frame. Like 3 a year that is seperated or even if it is just recently they won't drop you. I hope it all works out. Just make sure you call and explain how bad you are feeling and you don't think the meds are working. Tell them it is hard for you to concentrate and keep up with everything sometimes. This happens during mental illness so they should help you.

Let us know how things turn out.

Hugs,

Tina

You cannot quit the meds without tapering off. Trust me, I tried and succeeded when I took Effexor but it was awful, awful, awful. I'm sure your doctor will be understanding.
