Majorly Depressed

It's always this way. Every 3 to 6 months I get severely depressed. My husband threatens, conjouls, pleads for me to fight it. And in the end he gives up and takes me i/p. But until then it just makes my depression worse. This time he has a certification test Friday, and thinks my being gone will affect his ability to study. I'd think with the children gone, he'd have it easier.
I'm about to pick my PDoc up by the lapels and beg he find the right meds right now!! I can't just go packing every 3-6 months. It might be a different story if I only had episodes once or twice a year.
:-(

I'm really sorry this is so hard for you. I myself have been I/P maybe 15 times in 14 years? But I did have about eight years of relative stability...
There is hope. Don't give up 'til you've tried EVERYTHING, k? Don't be afraid to even switch pdocs if you can and if your current one does not seem to be results-oriented.
Getting stable is HARD! It took me nine years (and a tdoc told me it can take an average of 10.) But when you are, you look back and are so glad that the worst is behind you that it doesn't matter how long it took. In fact, at that point, you really feel like you earned stability!

Hey Tallyn,
I know this sucks going through a big time rollercoaster every 3 -6 months. I would hate that too. I don't know what meds you have been on but have you tried the Lamictal? If you haven't ask your doc to try that. It helped keep me out of the hospital. It kept my moods way more stable then anything else. Lithium hasn't been bad for me either.
What does your pdoc do when you get to this point?
