Back on Geodon...though at great expense

Hi folks,
You might think that I'm up at this hour because of some new burst of mania. Not so. I'm up because I have bronchitis...ICK:/!
But anyway, I was able to get my GP to write me a script for Geodon and have it filled in the states. That's the good news, as it really seems to be THE right drug to fit into my cocktail along with Neurontin and the occasional Ativan or Trazodone. The bad news is that there is a loophole in my Medicare Part D which states that to be paid for, the script MUST be written by a U.S. doc:/:/:/!!!!! A month's supply of Geodon costs over $400, for Chrissake! My dad, bless him, is a retired engineer who along with my mom's retired chemist estate probably has enough money to keep me in Geodon, but it's hard for him (he's currently the sole support of my sis who has her own serious mental problems she's dealing with.) He first wants me to exhaust all the possibilities to get an American doc to write me scripts. I am going to school at a private U.S. college in the fall, so I am going to see if they have a doc at student health that can help me. I already tried urgent care clinics in Buffalo. I can also try either getting my old clinic in Buffalo to take me as a patient again, or calling the insurer and raising holy hell!

Wish me luck...

Marci, if I could buy Geodon in Canada, I would be home free, as my hubby has prescription coverage at work. But, unfortunately, the Canadian FDA has not approved the drug, so I have to depend on Medicare Part D to buy it, which I don't even know if I qualify for anymore. I did get an appointment with a psychiatrist in Buffalo, we will see how that goes...

Insurance companies SUCK. I hope you get the college to help you out getting the meds that work for you.
