I use seroquel. It helps me better than anything I ever took. I take it and I am usually asleep in an hour or so. But I feel the drowsiness in about 30 minutes. I know some people take Abien or other sleep meds but seroquel works best for me.
I have xanax but it only helps a little with sleep. If I am real wired I have to use seroquel. I would have to take 3-4 xanax to do what seroquel does for me.
Good luck. I know how not getting proper rest messes with you emotionally. I was just going through that and the seroquel was a life saver for me. I feel a lot better since I was able to actually sleep and rest.
I have Ambien which works sometimes and doesn't work sometimes. I also have a homepathic remedy, Calmes Forte, which I have used fairly successfully over the years but was unable to locate since I moved here until day before yesterday. I used it successfully last night.
I am unable ot give legal or medical advice. My opinions are based on my experiences and my personal research.
I take AmbienCR which helps me go to sleep and stay asleep (unless I'm manic).
The only side effect I have is I blank out my mornings. I can take my meds, brush my teeth, get dressed, get the family's clothes set out, and drive my kids to school, and not remember having done so. According to my husband I carry out these tasks without a hitch. I just forget about it later.
Here, Here on that!!!!! My Lady FINALLY succeeded in contacting DD's neurologist today to try and get her anti-seizure med Rx re-written and the office had the gall to tell her, "Well we can't re-write the scrip because the doc hasn't seen her in over a yr."....My Lady tells them, "Well I called about two or three months ago three times in one day and NEVER got a call back."....their reply "Oh, well we must not have gotten the messages." This isn't the first problem My Lady has had with that office. One time she drove down there for a SCHEDULED appt and when she got there, the receptionist told her, "You can't have an appt today, he (the doc) is on vacation this week." I believe My Lady had the card still with her and raised holy heck and some other doc in the office FINALLY saw DD. Oh well, the doc is 2 1/2 hrs away AND is not taking our insurance any more so we will have to go looking for another one, but our choices are either another 2 1/2 hrs away or almost 5 hrs away. Sometimes it sucks being in a sparsely populated area.
I know how it feels to struggle with everyday task. To be honest sometimes taking my meds feels like someone is killing me. I hate it. I am sorry your doc got on you so bad. I know it is important to take you bloodpressure and diabetes meds, but she could have been kinder about it.
I was reading "The Bi-Polar Child" book a little while ago and it mentioned that in eobp people anyway, the activity in that area of the brain that controls the sleep-wake cycle is different than in a "normal" person, I believe it showed MORE activity with a brain scan, and that is why the bp messes with the sleep-wake cycle so bad....which we on this board are all VERY well aware of. Thank you modern medicine for proving what those of us who live with this disorder have known for quite sometime.

But other than that I like it. :-)
I take both 1 mg of Ativan and 100 of Trazodone when I need to get to sleep. Has worked for a long time.
