For my children (who are 11, 14, and 17) I can pretty well level with them.
Hi Jenn,
I posted some information about explaining to children about bipolar in the Information & Inspiration folder. I hope this is of some help to you.
I know for my dd I would explain that my illness would make me act or feel like xy and z and let her know this is not her fault and she can't make me all better. I would let her know I have my good days and my bad days. I would try to do more with her on my good days

It just really confuses me cause i can be down in the dumps and then
Here is a picture my son drew, I noticed he called it bipolar girl. This is what brought my question about.
Jennifer, the link/picture didn't come through.
Jenn, bipolar is very exhausting to deal with. Our bodies go through a lot when we are having any of the symptoms. If we have the energy from the mania we will feel

Thank you, I am sure you have said all that to me before but today I think it makes sense.
I have a call into my pdoc about the amount of my dose of Carbatrol I am on. I guess my last BL was like 8 percent and it can go up to 12 or something like that so maybe the 800 mg isn't enough still. I guess our next choice is to try something different. Work is getting very antsy about all this and I don't think that helps me either. I was here at my desk 40 hours last week, I am in a back corner and I may of dazed into space or fallen asleep, or been on here but I was in the office. My only other choice is to go on short term disability again and I really don't want to do that. They have been great with me for my first 9 yrs here, until this past year I hadn't missed so much time I was on short term twice in the last 6yrs, first time I came back and I ended up switching to the department I am in now and the boss at the time was a great teacher and my co-wrk int he department was awsome. I did great in there, even got a compliment from one of the vp's here (small company so they notice you). When the boss left is when I started to slide and with in a year was out of wrk. Since I came back I just can't get back the rythum. I just say
thank you, I have explained the basics and I guess was having a really off day yesterday and it kind of hurt to have my grandaughters mention the messy house then to see the picture my ds drew kind of hit me.
OH darn it all I thought I did it correctly. I will have to wait until I am home as I had transfered it to photobucket but then I got rid of it after I put it here.
Okay here I go again trying to post the picture.
