i'm back again! i am worried about my hostas. if you remember in the fall/wintertime you told me to remove the dead leaves, which i did. in fact you couldn't even tell that i had hostas. you also said that its almost impossible to kill hostas. i am worried that maybe i did! they haven't reappeared yet!

also, can oriental lilies be successfully grown inside in a pot? they are my favorite kind of flower and i would love to grow some. any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

my turtles have been inside since the fall so they haven't touched the hostas. i'll give them another week to see how they're doing. i was hoping i could grow some flowers inside but since it doesn't look good i'll see about growing some outside. i have 2 hanging pots from last year. what can i plant in there? i keep these pots outside.

just an update. my hostas are coming up now- they're looking very green. next year i'll take a stab at dividing them. i'd love to have them covering 75% of my pens. btw, i was watching PBS last weekend and saw part of a special about hostas. i didn't realize there were lots of varieties! i wish i could have all of them in my yard! lol

hey roni-

another question. today i was cutting out coupons and saw an ad for hostas on sale- 9 plants for 10 bucks plus s&h. have you ever ordered plants online before? the company has a double guarantee and says that they send their choice of assorted varieties. i'm wondering if this deal is too good to be true?!?!

There really are a lot of different hostas, not just the very popular varigated one with the light purple flowers.

Do you mind saying who you are ordering from?

sure roni, its honeycreek nursery. i haven't ordered the hostas yet but i am thinking about it. the hostas that i already have, which were given to me through freecycle, always get eaten by some kind of insects. i can't use pestacides or fertilizer because both are toxic to turtles.
