raw meat on cutting boards

Hi, quick question: Is it ok to cut raw meat on a wood/bamboo cutting board? I've heard that bacteria can get into the cracks but I just read that actually, the wood kills bacteria within 5 minutes.

Which is true?

Thanks!

Yes, that helps so much!!!

Do you know anything about bamboo cutting boards? I just purchased a nice one and I've heard great things about them.

You sound like you've got a lot of experience behind your belt!! I'm relatively new to cooking (I'm 20 and I've been cooking like crazy for the past year or so.... getting much better every day!!) and I have a lot of respect for people who can help me out with the simple things.

I'll be sure to keep this board in mind if I have any other questions. Thank you so much!!

I have no experience with the bamboo boards, but I know how well bamboo does in the elements, because of its density.
