Yesterday I suggested a topic of the day for Dennis and Ric, on radio, "What's your favorite black and white movie?"

When I was little all the shows on tv for kids, it seemed were cowboy shows.
Hopalong Cassidy (my brother was named Hoppy in kindergarden because he had
white blonde hair and wore a black cowboy shirt and pants to school.)
Gene Autry had a show and Roy Rogers.Annie Oakley for the girls and Dale Evans.
Later, the Mickey Mouse club was after school and Soupy Sales was there at lunchtime,
when you walked home from school to eat lunch (Campbells soup or peanut butter
sandwiches!)Saturdays were cartoon days and we all had our favorites...Casper,
Scooby,Rocky and Bull Winkle,Disneyland was on Sunday night and the family all
sat down together and watched Davy Crockett or El Fago Bocca fight the bad guys.
I don't have time to remember much else, I have to get ready to go to work!

LOL
My Mom always hated her birthday, the day after Christmas for crying out loud!!
She never got a birthday gift AND a Christmas gift...they were always the same!!
(when she was growing up in the 20's)
She had a baby on July 6,and we always had a costume party for my baby sister's birthday
party and the whole neighberhood was invited to our backyard party.
Unfortunately,my birthday was at the end of March,so no fun there.
I had to wait until I was 50 for Easter to be on my birthday, but the kids were
already gone and no one cared, except maybe my sister.
My DH is October 27, so he misses Halloween, but still gets in on all the fun!!

Hoping your birthdays are filled with fun, too!

We watched "Captain Jolly"
on the only Canadian station
aired in Detroit at the time,
and I can imagine his studio
was pretty much the same as you
described your experience!!
I think I remember being on
the "Sage Brush Shorty"
show when I was little,
but it all seemed so
fake!!Just like you
experienced!

We had black and white TV until sometimes mid 80:ties, why I don't know but I think it was cheaper to buy then color TV.
