Fast Food Review-Subway Club Salad

Since our only lunch options at work are fast food joints that are within about 1 1/2 miles of the office, I often browse the internet first before chosing where I go, if I didn't pack a lunchbox. I like Subway on occasion, and the Club Salad looked good. Here's the description from their menu:

The Subway® Club Salad combines the tastes and textures of roast beef, turkey breast, ham, chopped iceberg lettuce, baby spinach, red onions, tomatoes, cucumber slices, green pepper strips, black olive slices, and carrots, topped with your choice of dressing.

Oiy! it sure sounds like a disappointment...I hate fast food places! bah!
Being vegetarian and only having 30 minutes for lunch means I must bring my lunch every day.
There are a few good places in the mall next to my office building....they are a Greek place that has a good veggie plate for $3.99 .....salad with feta and olives and tomatoes, some spicy rice with a tomato sauce and some roasted potatoes....a little heavy on the carbs but thankfully I exercise a lot and can afford to eat it once in a while. There's a good salad bar too! the older man that runs it ensures that everything is fresh....he's next door to the Farmer's Market so that sure helps....You can make a pretty hearty salad there for under $4. I've also visited the salad bar on occasion to get stuff for a stir fry...cheaper than the grocer and already cleaned and julienned!LOL!

It's good to keep snack close by for emergencies...i keep a few packs of nature valley granola bars and a few bottles of water around. Cheese and fruit can be easily purchased at the farmer's market

I hate Subway.....such a rip-off!

LOL! no I'm not a vegan :)
I do eat eggs, cheese and milk.

Crack 'Ho Alley huh? sounds charming...

I'd keep things in the lunchroom fridge but there are many people in my office (there are 300 of us there) who have no manners and will use other people's stuff. One of my friends had a small jar of peanut butter and a jar of jam along with a spoon and a knife in a zippered lunch bag in the fridge and somebody helped themselves to that and stole her knife....Geez!
Also, if you go shopping at the market and pick up a few deli item...don't stick them in the fridge...those get eaten or stolen too...awful ain't it?
I think most of the folks there are fine it's just that we alays get some new trainees every tax season and they are usually young and stupid!LOL! don't get me wrong...I'm not saying that all young people are young and stupid...it just seems like the last few batches of newbies were mostly rejects.

I hear ya on going hungry Scarlet...during my first marriage in the early 80's I went hungry.....it's a horrible thing to go through....never again!

LOL! I like your "Theft deterrents" I would actually love chilled asparagus...but I'm not a lunch thief :)
We are all on different lunch times in our office to keep as many phone agents on the phone at those peak times...I'm fortunate enough to have the late lunch at 1:15 PM but I don't mind because there are some nice folks that have the same lunch time as me and we have a lot of fun chatting about all sorts of stuff. Mind you, we only get 30 minutes so that's not too long to chew and talk but I manage quite well ;)
One of the clerks that has the same break time as me loves to eat salads, so she brought in a lovely big bottle of extra virgin olive oil and one of good(not cheap) balsamic vinegar. She hid them away in a cupboard and even put her name on the bottles but within 2 weeks it was all gone....can you believe it? not a DROP left in the bottom of either bottle.....I guess someone was stocking their home pantry with that find!
I just can't imagine bringing some bottles from home and actually having the nerve to "fill-up" with someone elses stuff! Bah!
I sometimes use those cooler packs that you stick in the freezer but it's actually so cold in my office that there's no need...they blast the A/C on us all Summer and in the Winter they conserve all that energy they wasted to freeze us to death.
Layers, layers and more layers!
