Help! Need Super Easy Turkey!

I'm going to be making turkey for the first time this year, and I need a fool-proof and fast way to do it. I'm going to probably be using a turkey roaster so that it can sit on the counter while other things are cooking in the oven. Anyway, a friend of mine suggested that I bag the turkey and then I won't have to baste it and it'll cook faster. I'm not doing stuffing and I don't need the turkey to be great....just not terrible. Can anyone break down for someone who has NO IDEA how to make a turkey or perhaps refer me to a good web site?

You know the plastic thingies that holds bread bags closed, my ex mother in law had around 20 , one litre icecream tubs with those.

I know her mother used to steal two or three and toss them but last we counted it was 20

I just heard a turkey technique on the radio, and several people called in to verify it.
