Spaghetti sauce?

I am a pretty good cook, but can't make a good spaghetti sauce. I usually buy jarred brand name sauces.. don't like them. I tried spaghetti sauce seasoning packet where you add tomatoe sauce and/or tomatoe paste...don't like it. I even when to our local fresh pasta store and bought some of their speciality jarred sauces ($5.00/jar) and fresh pasta.. the pasta was great.... the sauce was so..so...
HELP!
I need a good spaghetti/tomatoe sauce recipe. Any Italian ladies out there....
TIA
Josette

Welcome to this wonderful and wacky board! I don't have anything to add to Karen's mouth watering description of spag-sauce, but I just wanted to welcome you to the board.

ALRIGHT!!!
Yes. When my husband and I got married we lived in Lafayette, but he wanted to move to Baton Rouge to work, so we did.

Hi there, from New Iberia!
so another Cajun huh? I had to learn to make speghetti sauce by hit and miss. That was over 50 years ago. Cook books were around but we just didn't use them. Speghetti was the only thing I could cook when I got married. Not the sauce, the speghetti. I at least cooked it to death. I also thought you had to make a (roux). I've come a long way baby. I like the fresh veggies in it. My mother took a short cut. She just dumped a can of tomato sauce into the speghetti while it boiled and we had sauce. She couldn't cook worth a hoot. My dad did all the cooking (In self-defence) He was a bucher to start out with, then he opened a resterant. His mother was a wonderful cook. She grew up in a convent in New Orleans. Who else has a family history of good and bad cooks? Love ya' all. GeeGee
Gee Gee, I love ya, girl!
