Hard Boiled Eggs...New with a question!
| Sat, 05-03-2003 - 10:40am |
I was boiling eggs for egg salad for my DD...I had 4 eggs that were older. When I dropped them in the water, they cracked and floated on top. Does that mean they are too old and not safe to eat? They were cold, but so were the new eggs and they didn't crack.
Help me outladies!
Melissa
To determine whether an egg is fresh, immerse it in a pan of cool, salted water. If it sinks, it is fresh. If it rises to the surface, throw it away.
To keep the shell of a hard-boiled egg from cracking, add a heaping teaspoon of salt to the boiling water.
Hope this helps and hope to see you again here!
Smiles,
Donna :-)
