Pantry items, eh? hmmm...

Italian seasoning - make your own blend of dried oregano, basil and thyme; add some dried red pepper flakes for the "bam" factor.

Jams and jellies - must have a variety, such as real orange marmalade, pineapple jam, plum and currant jellies. Punch up with a little freshly grated ginger or horseradish and toss over cream cheese for a delightful appetizer at your next party.

Ketchup - my kids can't live without it, LOL! My mom swears it's the magic ingredient in good sloppy Joe's, and I think she's right.

S: Sea Salt

T: Tumeric

U: Udon

Sea Salt is healthier and more flavorful than iodized table salt. Because it can come rather coarse, you'll need a proper salt grinder, or a good mortar and pestle.

Tumeric is the poor cook's "saffron," yields a wonderful golden color to rice and stock and has a nice, light flavor.

Udon are Japanese noodles. Had to think of something that started with a "u" and I happen to have udon in my pantry. They're great in soupy dishes.

hehehe
