Tomato Sauce: Plain, specialty, or home-made...Which for you?

  • Plain, and I add the spices and such for myself
  • Ready from the jar/can to put on almost everything I need
  • Home canned in varieties of differing seasonings, for each meal used in
  • Canned tomatoes now, to cut up, cook, and spice up.
  • Made from fresh tomatoes each time I need it.
  • I used to make my own, but have run out of time, so just get it prepared for me
  • I purchase it hand made from a local store/friend

DH can't plant just one tomato plant; he has to plant at least 4. That means we have enough tomatoes to supply the neighborhood, LOL! He loves to make caprese - slice a tomato, add a slice of bull mozzarella and a leaf of fresh basil to each tomato slice, drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and freshly ground pepper to taste - delicioso! I like to make fresh tomato sauce by just chopping the tomatoes, heat with chopped garlic, onion, basil and olive oil. Yum!

Hi Mitch!

In the summer I always have tons of tomatoes and make stewed tomatoes and tomato juice from them.
