On another board, a topic came up about having sprouting beans from a compost working area.

DH announced that we have tomatoes growing in our compost bin, LOL!


We do use 5 gal utility pails to plant tomatoes and peppers in. The plants are contained, nothing worse than wild tomatoes! Pots are also recommended for invasive herbs and mint. I recycle the pots that plants come in from the nursery. You just never know when you have to transplant a gift tree from a squirrel - or tomatoes from your compost bin, LOL!
