Do you ever buy the canned dough in the dairy case, like crescent rolls and french bread sticks?

I used to use the pizza dough, before my bread maker came along. Now I think that rolled stuff has a wierd taste. I cant stomach it anymore. I dont care for the breadsticks either. I am curious about that cresant roll stuff. Im intersted to hear how your experaments turn out. If I could learn to make killer biscuits then I wouldnt touch that rolled stuff ever. So occasionally....rarely I get the biscuits.

I bought the canned cinnamon rolls once, when we were dating
and lived in dorms. Once we had a real kitchen I made them
from scratch. And now that our metabolisms have slowed way
down, I don't make them.

The buttermilk biscuits in a can are another story. I always
just bake them as biscuits, for festive meals. (Can you
imagine -- for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and New
Years Dinner, no matter what awesome homemade dinner rolls
I make, I also have to bake bread in a can for dh?)

His mom uses them for biscuits and gravy, but dh thinks
homemade ones work better for that.

Since I learned to make cinnamon rolls from scratch, the canned ones have an odd texture and flavor to me.

That pizza dough is so expensive, and you are right about the flavor!

If I can't make biscuits from scratch, my first alternative is frozen biscuits.

We are at the camper for the summer. Every afternoon the ones that are here have what we call "Happy Hour" some are happier than others lol....but we take snacks so since I watch the Food Network all the time I saw someone take Crescent rolls, pepperoni and mozz cheese. Take a piece of the dough and put in a piece of pepperoni ( I fold in in quarters) and a smallish chunk of mozz cheese..fold it in the dough makes over a dozen. Bake till brown. We dip into pizza sause that you can heat up if you like. Most of them like them without dipping....

They are good and easy.

my mom taught me to make doughnuts from a can of biscuits. We buy them all the time for biscuits and gravy and sometimes for pigs in a blanket. I usually have at least one can on hand. I never think to make them from scratch but I am pretty sure I have everything on hand.
