I look forward to using mine. I had one years ago but ruined it. Now they come preseasoned but I am keeping the directions so I dont mess it up!
It is hard to actually RUIN a cast iron pan; even if it rusts out really bad, you can recover it and re-season it.
If you get rust, a little or a lot, scrub it out with steel wool and mild soap. Dry it good, oil it lightly all over, and leave it in a warm oven (150-200) overnight. Or put it in the oven while you are cooking something else, like a roast. The more you oil and bake it, the more non-stick and rust proof it will become. To clean it, stay away from soap. Hot water and a dish brush are all you need. Don't use your cast iron for tomato sauce or other liquids that are high in acid.
