Do you use smelly candles in the house, office, etc?

I love scented candles. My scents change with the seasons however. Fall is pumpkin spice and apple pie. Winter is cinnamon, pine, holly berry, peppermint, etc. Spring/summer is floral scents, gardenia, lilac is one of my favorites...my absolute favorite is periwinkle tulip from bath and body but they don't make that one anymore. I don't care too much for the sweet scents like chocolate, vanilla, or the cookie ones.

I used to use scented candles almost daily. My favs are ...

Yankee Candle, Pumpkin Spice and Macintosh Apple

Glade, Mountain Berry

Unfortunately, now that we've got our bird (Hannah, we picked her up last Friday!!), we can't have those scents around her. Occassionally, tho, we plan on still burning them upstairs so the air won't be so *heavy* around her downstairs.

What kind of bird do you have? What is the reason you can't have scented candles around him? Just curious...does it harm them?

Hannah is a grey cockatiel, and is roughly 3-4months old. Everything we have read and been told is to watch how much heavy scent is around her. No aerosol sprays, no smoke, etc.....we even have to be careful not to overheat Teflon pans, because the fumes can kill her (which we have always been careful of, anyway). Basically, her nostrils and air passages are so small, that if they are inhibited by anything else other than "pure" air, it can cause breathing difficulties.

I took some pics of her yesterday, so I will get them posted on my website soon!

I see. I never knew that...my cousin has 4 cockateils and both her and her DH smoke and she always has candles lit. Guess she didn't know that.

You might want to invest in an air purifier then and put it next to the bird's cage. DH and I have 2 for my allergies and they are wonderful! Expensive, but they are worth it for us b/c my allergies aren't as bad now. We have the Sharper Image ones. I highly recommend them.
