Since I am working on my taxes this week... thought I'd ask this:

Have you filed your taxes yet and are you getting a refund or do you have to pay?

I actually just e-filed mine last night with H&R Block! I'm getting a refund...and even more than I thought, so that's a bonus :) I'm putting my refund in a savings account that DSO and I just started for a Disney cruise that we're going on in Jan/Feb 2005 with my family, there will be 16 of us going...it's a REAL family vacation :)

My goal is to have them done by the end of March...

Last year we had to file an extension and didn't get them done till August - We paid out the rear.. I so want to change accountants - But he is a school friend of my husbands (big hairy deal).. He charges us WAY too much and it takes us a year to pay for his bill.

He sends us a client arranger and we fill in all the numbers and give it to him - he types in the numbers we give him. And WHY didn't I listen in Accounting class ??

If we get any money back it gets spent quickly..

Well, I know we owe...not sure how much yet. My dad is a CPA so he does our taxes and he usually gets around to them in March/April...closer to tax day. Can't complain - his "paying clients" come first. LOL! However, if we ever get a refund he would try to get it done sooner - no sense in us paying any sooner than we have to though! LOL!

Hubby got his W2 in Jan, and we already filed and received our return. (we use H&R Block and got an instant refund). Most of it went to paying off bills, but we also kept a chunk just to blow!

Just an FYI - I read recently in our paper that H&R Block has the highest rate of audits and mistakes in tax returns.
