I wholeheartedly agree w/ changing his name to SA! lol
Lindsay Lohan is stupid and disgusting. Even extremely photoshopped, there is nothing attractive about her.
I can't believe Biggest Loser is starting back up again already! Looks like Extreme Makeover won't be starting back up until spring/summer. I miss my Chris Powell, and want to see if I made it on TV! :-P
Kira spent the last 2 nights back in her crib. She suddenly decided that instead of laying in bed, she's going to continually come out and sit in front of her bookshelf in the hallway, and tell us "No!" when we tell her to go back to bed and stay there. I finally got so frustrated I put her in the crib. Then DH followed suit last night (he's usually not home for bedtime). I REALLY don't want her to get back in the habit of wanting to sleep in the crib, but how do you deal with them constantly coming out of their room? Her door doesn't latch shut so she can open it even w/ a handle cover, and we don't have a baby gate or anything that we can put there.
How about installing a hook and eye on the outside? The people who owned the house I grew up in did that on their kids doors. You could always fill in the holes later on with putty. With a new baby on the way you definitely don't want Kira going back to the crib.
A few days before Christmas Jesse decided to start using the potty again. He was very successful at it too. But now all he wants to do is sit on it and put in a bunch of toilet paper. I usually hide the paper so he can't do it, but now once you take the paper away he decided he's done and gets off. And, of course, there's the whole thing about SA not following through when he's on duty. I'm sure Jesse will get the hang of it soon, he hates having SA change his diapers.
My mom found out yesterday that they are cutting her job from full time down to just 22 hours a week. No word on whether she'll keep any benefits or not yet. I hope she gets to keep her benefits - Dad is still undergoing treatments for his cancer and he's got several joints that need surgery (knees and shoulders - and he is not pleasant to be around when he's in pain). She is one of the lucky ones though, her department of 22+ people was cut to just 3. She works for the continuing ed. dept. at a HUGE state medical university here.
Aww sorry for your mom! That really sucks. How can they possibly go from 22 people to only 3, and those being cut to half time??? Is she going to try looking for something else?
I actually ended up getting a bungee cord and wrapping it around her door handle and then the closet door handle which is like 1.5 feet away lol. She didn't like that. I think she was aiming to be put back in the crib though. She was crying after awhile and I went in there and she's pointing and saying "crib!" she also kept throwing her bear and doll in there. But nope, I made her stay in her bed last night.
She's managed to go on the toilet once each of hte last couple days. She's getting VERY good at holding it while she's wearing panties, which means she def has the control. She just doesn't really want to go on the toilet either, even though she knows she'll get a treat if she does. She'll sit on there and cry "cookie! cookie!"
That's a bummer about your mom's job, Donna! Hopefully with such a big operation they can find more part-time work for her to make up the difference.
Sorry about the SA. In my DD's playgroup we had lots of fun with names. RTDA (robert the dumb a$$), RTTW (robert the train wreck)...and just plain old asshat. Mine is being a total dickweed right now but we're not to the point of giving him a new name.
Lol at "cookie! cookie!" I don't even offer Jesse a reward - he doesn't seem to need it.
The bungee cord is a good idea - I didn't know you had another door nearby. My mom used to tie my brother's door shut like that when he was little. She would undo is when she knew he was finally asleep. He would usually end up asleep in his toy box and all the toys on the floor. Dad would scoop him up and put him in his bed.
I finally got to talk to my dad (instead of getting the info from SA/DH). My will get to keep her benefits, but she will lose on week of vacation time and some personal days. But she won't really need as many vacation or personal days anyway since she'll more than likely only be working 3 days a week. Her pay is also decreasing by 40% due to the reduced hours.
She is 67 so there aren't many places that would take her as a new employee - not that there's any jobs to be had in NJ thanks to our stupid Governor (Chris Cristie - please don't ever vote for him if he runs for president! And it looks like he's angling to be Mitt Romney's running mate). And there's no way to pick up more hours where she is - major layoffs and hiring freezes.
I'm usually REALLY not into politics, but I REALLY hate that Santorum jacka$$ from PA. I'm also glad that Bachmann girl dropped out. She was an idiot. I'd love to see a woman make a good run at president, if not win, but not her. The way it's looking I may have to vote for Obama again....
Oh and yesterday our governor announced that she's backing gay marriage in WA. I don't know how likely that would be to pass, but it's a start. Funny she's announcing it now though, since she's not running for re-election in the fall.
Just taught a music class with second graders. One of the girls was wearing about a gallon of cologne - and I'm highly sensitive to fragrances (they close up my throat and give me asthma-like symptoms). I couldn't get away from the smell cause she was right near my piano and CD Player (and I couldn't figure out exactly which of the girls it was).
